Untitled-1 (1)Very soon, we’ll welcome another adventure of January Jones, female character who embodies the spirit of Tintin, through an expressive Clear Line style. I’ve received from Eric Heuvel, one of the dutch artists who created the saga, a promotional image which was posted on the Facebook timeline of EPPO-magazine. The illustration was produced for a magazine that makes the pre-publication of the story in chapters.

I have talked extensively with the artist, who took the opportunity to reveal that this new episode of January will take place in Asia, region of the planet not yet visited by her. Expected to be released during the european summer of 2016, this will be the eighth issue of these courageous airplane pilot. Before this adventure, Heuvel had sent Jones to the former Soviet Union in The corpse of Lenin (Het lijk van Lenin). Both titles weren’t yet released in Belgium by BD Must, who has published six issues of JJ, the name given affectionately to January Jones by Heuvel.

In this eighth adventure of the series, Jones faces cash flow problems and her plane, the DeHavilland Comet, needs technical repairs. These factors are preventing JJ from making airplane presentations in the United States. So, JJ and Rick accept the invitation from someone in China, who can resolve the situation, and they head for the East. According to Eric, the argumen  is a tribute to Tintin: The Blue Lotus and will lead Jones to travel by boat across the Pacific Ocean.

January Jones was created in 1986 by Eric, in partnership with Martin Lodewijk. During the last years, the character received the names of Jennifer Jones and Jenny Jones. This classic blonde is fearless and faces many dangers, around the world, during the late 1930s. The text is full of mysteries, geographical data and historical figures.

In France, long ago, two titles of Jones were published by Glénat Editions: Le Crâne de Mkwawa (1991) and Le Trésor du Roi Salomon (1993). In addition, we can find another story, by Milan, titled Course contre la mort (1987). The latter was translated into Portuguese and published by ASA, in Portugal, titled Race against death.

We hope one day to see many stories of JJ published in Brazil!
